‘Blast’ spies before they hit you

Again, another software review from ~Flix~

All software reviewed in this blog are freewares, meaning they are free to use.

This time around I’ll focus more on spywares (and adwares, malwares)

Just in case you don’t know, spywares are malicious codes that hides in your system and spy on you – your online behaviour, personal information, private files and folders. They are as nasty as viruses and worms, yet more dangerous as they are harder to be tracked down. Most antivirus application can’t detect them real time. Only when you scan your system that you’ll notice they are there, spying on you~!

So how to solve this? To eliminate them, you have to get yourself anti-spyware like AdAware or Spyware Terminator or AVG Anti-Spyware (read about them in TOP 5 Items You Need For Your PC)

But that is not enough. What you should do is indeed blocking them in the first place, before they invade your PC. Invasion can be automatic, through pop-ups, cookies, active-X application, flash application etc. Therefore, you might not even know when or how your PC got infected.

Two great freewares that will do the job is Spyware Blaster and Spybot – Search and Destroy.

Spyware Blaster

Spyware blaster is the ideal software to prevent installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Besides spyware, it also protect your PC from adware, dialers, browser hijackers, dangerous cookies etc.

Enabling SpywareBlaster’s powerful protection is easy:

1.) Open SpywareBlaster
2.) Click on the “Enable All Protection” link under Quick Tasks on the main screen.
3.) Exit the program – you’re done!

One thing that I like most about Spyware Blaster is that it does not need to remain open for its protection to be active. Literally it means that it provides the extra protection, without choking up extra memory

Spybot – Search and Destroy

Spybot - Search and Destroy

Spybot – Search & Destroy works as well as Spyware Blaster. Does the same job, and provides real time protection.

What’s ‘extra’ of Spybot is that it protects those who use Opera browser as well.

Simply click ‘Immunize’ to well, immunize your browser off malicious codes that you’ll downloaded while browsing website (ie. bad cookies)

So we have two great freewares here but which is the best?

I would recommend you to go for both. One have extra feature of ’system image’ capturing and another can protect Opera browser as well. And what’s important is to get maximize protection as one of the freeware may protect against spyware that the other don’t.

And most importantly, update it if possible, daily, and if not weekly for best protection.
